Something Old & Something New

My love of genealogy has slowly been increasing over the past couple years. It has been an incredible experience. I have discovered some pretty amazing things about my family and their story; I’ve been able to connect with distant family members and share photos and stories. There are items that I’ve had in my possession my entire life that have developed so much more meaning, and there are other things that I’ve acquired that are brand new to me that I will cherish forever!

So far, one of the most rewarding things for me has been coming to learn my Great-Grandparent’s story. I have been able to find where my Great-Grandfather was born and when he came to the United States from Hungary. Martin Hevezi-Place of Birth I was also able to figure out where he met my Great-Grandmother, how they likely met and their wedding certificate. I was able to locate where they were living as early as 1910 and what they were doing for a living. Martin and Margaret Hevezi- The Beginning

These stories have meant so much to me, and I am overjoyed to have been able to share them with my family. I have figured that over the years, I will eventually come to find even more information about them and be able to add it as I go. But today I found something that I have had all along and never even knew it.

I was going through some boxes that were in my hall closet. I hadn’t even touched them since we moved from Michigan, six years ago! As I was sorting a bunch of old photos from my childhood, I found a stack of photos that had apparently fallen out of my Grandma’s album…… including this one! Talk about making my day, I can’t even express how much this means to me. ❤
