I’m starting out my family history with something pretty interesting that I found while doing some snooping. I found a fellow history lover that likes to dig up the past from his hometown in Indiana and he happened to have some information about my family!

So, here’s a news article from May 27, 1921
Caroline Moehl ( my 3d great-grandmother) apparently entered a deal with her neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schroeder to sell her lot and two houses. The contract provided that the property sold for $2,500 and a deed left in escrow at The First State Bank to be delivered to the Schroeders at the completion the payments ($15 a month) or at the death of Caroline.
The contract provided that both parties would live in one house and that the Schroeders would nurse Caroline when sick and pay for her funeral expenses. – She must have REALLY trusted the Schroeders!
Caroline was living with her son William (my 2nd great-grandfather) on his farm, at the time of her death. He and his sister would be her only two heirs, and they argued that Caroline wasn’t in sound mind when she entered the contract. The article below explains the rest. I will have to do some added snooping to find the outcome! – Stay tuned!
